Board of Directors
[/b] BOD Position: Want to be on the Board of Directors? We have an empty position! You must have been at Executive Member status for at least a year. You will attend monthly meetings, usually 3-4 hours long. You should also attend the quarterly BOD and membership meetings, which total approximately 7 hours each quarter. Between board communications and forum posting, you’ll spend about 2 hours a week on that. The BOD meetings are run very efficiently by the chairman. That isn’t to say we don’t have some fun; the members of the board like what we do, and the meetings are enjoyable because of it.
A lot of work goes into each public event and gun show that MSI puts together. We need a few members to step up and help coordinate and lead the effort with these shows.
Events Chair: As the Events Chair, you will be responsible for the overall coordination of the public events and outreach at MSI. You’ll work closely with the Events Team Leader in planning events. You’ll be responsible for all events property to include displays, tables, brochures, etc. After each event, you will work with the treasurer, membership chair, and merchandise chair to ensure funds received are recorded correctly, memberships are fulfilled, email lists updated, and merchandise orders fulfilled. Estimated time 2 hours a month planning, and 2 hours after each event interfacing with the treasurer and other chairs.
Events Team Leader: As the Events Team Leader, you will work with the Events Chair to ensure public events, including gun shows are scheduled attended and staffed. You will set standards for materials and supplies needed for public events teams, to include displays, brochures, etc. You will ensure that material and information provided is up to date and relevant. You’ll also work to make sure that all supplies are requested and provided to the public events team in time for the event. You’ll be responsible for resolving any scheduling conflicts between events. Estimated time commitment: 2 hours the month before the event, 2 hours for each event.
Events Team Members: As always MSI needs manpower to staff our booths at events. As an events team member, you’ll work as part of the events and outreach team to man MSI booths or tables at events. You will typically answer questions about MSI, firearms laws in Maryland, legislation and legal actions. Training will be on the job, MSI polos are also provided at reduced cost to PETMs! Gun shows are usually about 8 hours long, so we work in 2 shifts of about 4 hours. If you can’t do the whole 4 hours, show up and we’ll be happy to have you!
Website and Media
[/b] Web Content Manager: We want our website to remain relevant, and useful for anybody looking for valid, helpful information about MSI and what we are doing. As the Web Content manager, you’ll be responsible for that. You will work with your team to generate any needed content. You will interface with the board and other content providers to ensure the membership is informed of the latest happenings within the organization. You should also respond to requests from our membership and followers for needed content. You will also oversee the wiki manager and team. You are asked to provide links to the social media chair for distribution. The initial time commitment will be large, however we expect the ongoing time commitment to be an hour or two a week.
Wiki Manager: Our Wiki has some great articles on it, but there is room for improvement. As the Wiki Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management and content of the MSI wiki page. You should create a wiki standard to be followed by all editors using the wiki. You will manage the wiki team to ensure that all submissions to the wiki page conform to the MSI wiki standards. The initial time commitment will be large, however we expect the ongoing time commitment to be an hour or two a week.
Photographer, Videographer: MSI needs two volunteers to fulfill the role of the official photographer and videographer for MSI. The responsibilities include providing photography/videography services at MSI activities to include but not limited to, business/membership meetings, gun shows, public events, awards ceremony, etc. The photographer and videographer should coordinate with Website Content Manager to ensure photos and videos are supplied in a timely fashion for use on the MSI website.
FFL Dealer Team
Most dealers we interface with love handing out MSI information as they know we are fighting the good fight. The problem is how do we get them our brochures, and other event information? You guessed it, dealer team members!
Dealer Team Leader: As the dealer team leader, you will work with the Events Chair to make sure that supplies are available for dealer team members, set standards for what materials and supply levels should be maintained at each dealer. You will coordinate to ensure that each participating dealer has a team member that will periodically visit each dealer. You will act as a point of contact for dealer team members to answer questions and coordinate question/answer sessions with dealers when questions arise.
Dealer Team Members: As a dealer team member, you will be the legs of this operation. You will work as part of the Events and Outreach teams to ensure that dealers have the appropriate brochures and information from MSI. You’ll be a point of contact for any resupply of brochures and information, as well as serve as an interface for questions and information between the dealers and MSI.
