Have questions? Post them up.
Have answers? Please post them up.

Q: Where do I find help on forum usage basics?
A: Here is a good start: www.kunena.org/docs/A_basic_forum_help_page_for_beginners . The software behind the forum is from Kunena, so you can try any search engine you like to find more information. If you find good information, please post up a link.

Q: How do the quote and reply buttons work?
A: They are used to reply to the thread, not the individual under which the buttons appear.

Q: Why the new website and forum?
A: One of the goals is to have a more user-friendly experience. We have experienced a number of technical challenges and limitation with the software that ran the prior site, and are working put together a "new and improved" offering. We hope you like it!

Q: How do I add/change my avatar?
A:
  1. Click the Logon/off tab at the top of the page
  2. Select My Profile on the left of the drop down
  3. Select the Edit drop down on the left side
  4. Select Update Your Profile
  5. Select the Portrait tab
  6. Change the drop down that appears to your image choice
  7. Then it walks you through the last couple of steps

Q: How do I embed a map?
A: click MAP on the toolbar. Then insert a address, city, state, zip or latitude and longitude between the MAP tags.
For example: (subtract the first 'm' from the open and close tag)
[map] 4719 Reels Mill Road, Frederick, MD 21701[/map]

Q: How do I insert example use of forum tags without having them behave as forum tags?
A: Wrap them in code tags.

Q: I am getting a message saying I am banned from the old MSI forum. Can someone please help to get this resolved?
A: It is highly unlikely that you are actually banned. Please contact users in this thread who have helped others get this resolved

Q: Is there a way to check membership status and/or renewal date?
A: After you log on to the new site, &then click on the "logon" button @ top center again, you can select "profile" which will show you your membership level & renewal date.

Q: How do I reset my password?
A: www.marylandshallissue.org/jmain/forum/p...t-your-password#3001

Q: How do I renew my membership?
A:
  1. Click the Logon/off tab at the top.
  2. Click My Profile to the left in the drop down box.
  3. Next to your avatar are several tabs; one is Membership/Donations click that.
  4. Your current membership and renewal date are shown there. You will have several options to click on to renew, upgrade, or donate.

Is the OLD MSI Forum (Not the MDS one) done?

I tried to log on and it said I was "banned by the Admin"?!

Most forums have a field at the bottom that lets you comment on the thread, but not reply to someone in particular. I don't see that here, and was wondering if it was possible to add it.

I think that is a software "bug" on that site. When your membership passes renewal date, there is some administrative manual processing needed to grant one permission on that forum again.

The old MSI forum is still up, just wrought with problems. Boxcab, if you can PM Nikon, he should be able to get you straightened out. And hopefully this site comes out of Beta soon!

The quick reply that is at the bottom of a post is the normal quick reply we're used to. It doesn't reply to that post or quote it. I'm posting this as a quick reply that would appear to be part of PoolShark's post. A little strange, but not bad.

I see what you are talking about now. The quick reply button below each individual comment doesn't appear to pin it to any particular post, but is a reply to the topic in general.

Exactly. The "reply" and "quick reply" all show up under individual posts, but are really thread replies. Your reply will be at the end of the thread, not under the post where the button appears. This is not very intuitive, and is also not how the current MSI site behaves. Confusing, but hopefully something we can live with for now.?

We talked about having you write a FAQ.
If one existed, we could just copy and paste it. Im not aware of any, but one may exist somewhere - perhaps another Kunena forum or the Kunena website?

Here is something to get you started that took me 20 minutes to figure out:
MAPS
To embed a MAP, first click MAP on the toolbar. Then insert a address, city, state, zip or latitude and longitude between the MAP tags.
For example:

Tried PMing Nikon (0n MDS) as suggested. No response. Since I can not log at the MSI site I can not use any functions there.

I've missed several weeks of posting during the busiest time of the year.

There are only two people banned from the production forum and your are not one of them.

Is it possible you entered the wrong password 3 times and didn't wait 15 minutes between attempts?

This is a very common occurrence on our current site. I have made sine adjustments to your account, but I think Greg has to fix the ban portion. I'll touch base with him and get it straight

After you log on to the new site, &then click on the "logon" button @ top center again, you can select "profile" which will show you your membership level & renewal date.

What is does not appear to show however is how to upgrade your membership from General to Sustaining, or from either of those to Executive. If it does, then I've missed it.

I emailed the MSI Secretary a couple of days ago about going from sustaining to executive, to include endorsements, do hopefully that change is made & profile updated soon.

I'm not sure what the demand is right now, but if there was an easy to follow upgrade path or button on the profile page, that might help encourage others to upgrade.

When you get to the profile section mentioned by TTMD, you have a row of tabs along the middle, one is memberships/donations. Once you click that you should see upgrade options.

You do need to be voted in as an EM. TTMD, I saw an email yesterday to the board with info on a member that was requesting EM status and giving their recommendations. If that was you, it is in the works.

Thanks, I found it.

1) It shows me a Sustaining member, does it show that for all EM's as well?

2) It shows my available upgrade is to regular member??

Just a bit confusing. Not knocking anyone's efforts, just chiming in with things that jump out at me.

Thanks for everyone's efforts!
