I have had many requests to help people that are in the process of appealing the MSP determination of their permits. I encourage everyone to listen to the audio of my hearing and then post questions you may have in this thread.

Received word today from Trooper Lazuick that my permit has been issued and he offered to either mail it or bring to the HPRB meeting on Tuesday. It'll be in my hands Tuesday night!

This may not seem significant at first, but this does in fact mean that the MSP has decided not to challenge the decision of the HPRB in Circuit Court.

This chapter is now closed, and on to the next chapter of what I hope will build into a very large novel!

This is unrestricted non-business reasons? Just document general terrorists threats? If so, that is a huge win!

Not quite. Original permit issued with standard business restrictions. Appealed for an unrestricted permit and won.

Victory in the 9th Circuit!

In a huge decision authored by Judge O'Scannlain, a split panel of the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has ruled that Hawaii's ban on open carry outside the home in that state violates the Second Amendment under any level of scrutiny. The decision, Young v. Hawaii, can be found here. The decision is very scholarly, carefully reasoned and a powerful statement that the Second Amendment is not a "second-class" right or a constitutional "orphan."
